Dead Body found Fairfax and Venice Aug.31

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are trying to determine how a dead body ended up at an intersection in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles Tuesday.

A man's body was discovered near a bus stop at Fairfax Avenue and Venice Boulevard shortly after midnight after a passing motorist spotted the victim lying in the street. A cause of death has not yet been determined, but police say it was definitely not natural causes.

Gunfire on 10 Freeway and La Brea

A road-rage incident on the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area turned violent Thursday evening when a motorist fired at least two gunshots at another man near the La Brea onramp, according to police and a witness.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. after a driver apparently rammed his vehicle into another car in the westbound lanes close to where the onramp merges with the freeway, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

08-28-10 / 3:00 PM - 3:20 PM : A Burglary occurred on the 4500 block of Pickford St. The suspect (no description) pried open the victim's door and made entry. The suspect removed the victim's property (computer, cell phone) and fled.

State officials move in after NBCLA investigation

It’s a problem that’s gotten out of control, nearly one in ten California drivers claim to be disabled and have placards, which let them park free all day at meters and on streets reserved for residents only.

But NBCLA found, many of these people are able-bodied drivers, illegally taking away parking from the rest of us.  Because of our report, the Department of Motor Vehicles is going after them in a huge way.

DMV officers conducted a sting operation in Downtown LA, looking for drivers who are illegally using disabled placards.  We watched as they confronted one man who parked his car using his wife’s placard, so he didn’t have to plug the meter near his clothing store.
