ATTENTION RESIDENTS, EMPLOYEES, BUSINESSES, CUSTOMERS AND/OR VISITORS
What: Metro contractors will be conducting exploratory drilling as a part of the planning and environmental analysis for the proposed Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Project. Collecting soil samples is essential to assess the conditions below the ground surface in order to prepare the necessary plans for future trackways, station structures, and tunnels associated with a Light Rail Transit (LRT) line.
When and Where:
Week 1
Mar 10, 2010 8:00am-5:00pm; Median of Crenshaw Blvd between Coliseum Place and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between West 43rd Street and West 43rd Place, and between 48th Street and West Westmount Avenue.
Mar 11, 2010 8:00am-5:00pm; Median of Crenshaw Blvd between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Stocker Street and,between West Vernon Avenue and 46th Street, between West 54th Street and West 57th Street, and between West 57th Street and Slauson Ave.
Mar 12, 2010 8:00am-5:00pm; Median of Crenshaw Blvd between Stocker Street and 43rd Street, between West 59th Street and Slauson Avenue, between West 59th Street West 60th Street and, between Hyde Park Blvd and West 67th Street.
Week 2
Mar 15-March 19, 2010 8:00am-5:00pm; Various locations in the median of Crenshaw Blvd between Brynhurst Ave to W 52nd St, and between 60th Street and Hyde Park Blvd.
Mar 16, 2010 8:00am-5:00pm; Median of Crenshaw Blvd between Coliseum Street and Martin Luther King Blvd.
What to Expect:
· Three crews of up to 4 people each. Two drill rigs, a truck and pick-up trucks. Any additional passenger vehicles will be parked in legal parking spaces.
· 1 lane plus left turn pocket of traffic and median lane will be blocked where required while work is under way.
· Noise and minimal vibration from drilling.
· Lanes will be cleared at the end of the work period and re-opened for regular use.
· Soil samples will be removed and sent to a lab for analysis.
