We have the great good fortune to have attracted another talented member to our team. I met Carla Pineda, TNN’s new investigative reporter, at the  Life Path 2010 youth conference and festival  in Jefferson Park.

Carla’s family moved to Jefferson Park from Central America 20 years ago. She studied journalism at Cal Poly Pomona and currently works as a news assistant with the Daily Journal, a legal newspaper. The Expo Light Rail, connecting downtown L.A. to Santa Monica, has many supporters but I had been receiving reports about problems and lawsuits. I asked Carla to look into it. Despite her busy schedule she was able to bring the kind of care, attention and good writing we expect here at TNN.

One of our new features is “Seen on the Scene”.  Seen” is a fun tool for connecting the community and putting faces to names. We’ve also added “Featured Teen” in our ongoing effort to celebrate the bright stars in our community.

We continue to investigate  the efforts of Councilman Wesson to assist local residents with the installation of traffic barriers in their community. A records request from CD10 and the participating city agencies have uncovered some interesting if not troubling facts.
As one resident exclaimed “Don’t be naive. This is how politics works!.” Really?
