The New MOVE OVER Law

$754 Fine if violated

More than 150 U.S. law enforcement officers have been killed since 1999 after being struck by vehicles along America’s highways, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. To lower that deadly toll, a new coalition of traffic safety and law enforcement groups is launching a nationwide public awareness campaign to protect emergency personnel along our nation’s roadsides.

The MOVE OVER law is now in effect. If you see a stationary authorized emergency vehicle displaying flashing warning lights pulled over to the side of the highway you are required to move to the far lane away from vehicle. If this is not possible than you must slow way down.
The cost of a Move Over ticket is $754, with 3 points on a persons’s drivers license added when someone get’s a Move Over Law ticket and a mandatory court appearance.
