MINC Residents Take Emergency Training

Mid-City Neighborhood Council (MINC) members Barbara McNeil-Thompson (an ex nurse), and Ernesto Dominguez coordinated a Disaster Preparedness CERT Training session for local residents.

Held at LA Police Dept. Wilshire Division, it took place once a week for seven weeks between January and February. Firefighter Alexis Butler described the different kinds of disasters (Earthquates, Floodings, Hurricanes/Tornados, Terrorism) and the required responses while leading the participants through actual exercises. Residents completing the training were awarded “Certificates of Completion”  and included MINC’S Board Members, Allan DiCastro, Bettye Bryant, Lorraine Genoviese, Valaida Gory and Celia Bell. MINC presented an Appreciation Plaque to FireFighter Bulter
